That's nothing new. It was that way in the lates 70's/early 80's when I was a teenager and pouring over Seventeen and Teen magazines. But what has changed is the disposable income and spending habits of teenagers and their Baby Boom Generation parents. Today's parents are the children of the Greatest Generation (or thereabouts). Asking my mother for $5000 for a boob job when I was sixteen would have been unthinkable-- it would never even have occured to me to ask for something so expensive. <BR/> <BR/>Today, families have fewer children, more disposable income, and are less likely to save for other things that the previous generation did, like retirement. It's no wonder that plastic surgery for teenagers has increased. Female teenager's angst about the way they look is nothing new, but parenting styles have changed. The blame does not lie with Ashlee.
